I attended the University of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina University and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. After finishing college, I made my home teaching sixth grade math at St. James Middle/Intermediate Schools in Myrtle Beach, SC.
I married my husband, Ashley, in June 2002. We have been blessed with two girls, Kinsley and Konner. Our oldest daughter, Kinsley, was born in June 2004 and loves art, horses, photography, and fashion. She is kind, creative, and I like to think she looks like me! Our youngest daughter, Konner, was born in September 2009 and loves volleyball, family, and fun. She was named in memory of my mom.....She is funny, thoughtful, and always has a smile on her face!
We also have three very sweet and loving Maltese fur babies…. Lily, Suzie, and Charlee.
Outside of school, I spend most of my time with my family and friends. I also enjoy boating, camping, snow skiing, shopping, and Gamecock Football :)
Marnie Kennedy is a woman who wears many hats in life. Which is to be expected from someone who currently owns and operates four local businesses in the Myrtle Beach area. If you haven’t had the chance to meet her personally, you most likely have seen her name on social media for being a go to referral when people are in need of support.
Though those closest to her know that what she is most passionate about is being a dedicated Mother to her son Kyle and giving back to her local community.
Her drive to giveback started in Middle School with coordinating walkathons and has carried on through many outlets over the last 25 years. Marnie founded and organized the Karaoke for the Cure fundraiser that ran for six years to benefit Caring in our Lifetime - The Local Fight Against Breast Cancer in honor of her Mother. She then went on to be one of the main advocates of fundraising for the members in our community that suffered losses during the Windsor Fires in Carolina Forest and the Intercoastal Waterway flooding in Socastee during 2018. For the last six years she has hosted the Annual Trunk or Treat event hosted at her venue The Cooper House. Which has been a favorite for locals to attend who need a free, fun and safe space to celebrate Halloween with their families.
All of which has led her to being the recipient of several recognitions including the Jefferson Award and most recently being a founding member of SC Needs Help. Marnie knows she can make a larger impact and help even more people by partnering up with other supporting pillars in our local community. Marnie is looking forward to continuing her volunteer work and efforts with her partners and is honored to be part of such a grassroots non-profit where everything raised is being put directly back into helping her neighbors in need.
When she’s not working or volunteering her time, you will find Marnie at the gym, running, happy hour with friends or traveling. She is a lover of live music and giving out free hugs.
