Marnie Kennedy. The Selfie Queen. A name synonymous with Grand Strand charities, community outreach, disaster relief, and breast cancer awareness for more than 25 years. Marnie discovered her servant’s heart early when she participated in fundraising and service clubs while growing up in the Miami Beach, FL community. This translated to serving a multitude of organizations for more than 25 years. Marnie founded and organized the Karaoke for the Cure fundraiser to benefit “Caring in our Lifetime-The Local Fight Against Breast Cancer” in honor of her Mother.
Marnie activates her community reach following many local and regional disasters over the past two decades: the Windsor Fires in 2013, Hurricane Matthew relief in 2016, Western NC/SC recovery from Hurricane Helene in 2024, the Horry Co. forest fires in 2025, in addition to a multitude of families and individuals in need of immediate and short-term assistance. But instrumental in the founding and evolution of SCNeedsHelp were her efforts in providing essential supplies in Socastee and surrounding communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence in 2018.
The recipient of the Jefferson Award in 2018, Carolina Champion in 2025, Marnie continues her commitment to Grand Strand communities as a proud member of SCNeedsHelp since its inception 8 years ago. Marnie’s love of service translates into her professional career as a wedding planner. Her thriving business, Leave it to Marnie, has helped countless couples tie the knot.
A local small business owner and community advocate, Marnie is the proud mother of her son and fellow business owner, Kyle, and still finds time for the occasional SoFlo vacation, country music concert, and random adventures with her boyfriend, Ben.
