Sherry Lynette Young is a long-time “transplant local” who has been vacationing in the Myrtle Beach area since she was born before officially moving here in 1997. A proud graduate of Socastee High School, she continued her education at Coastal Carolina University and has dedicated her career to serving and strengthening the community she calls home.
With nearly 15 years at Medieval Times — beginning at just 15 years old in front-of-house retail and bar operations — Sherry developed a deep understanding of hospitality, customer service, and operations. Over a decade ago, she launched 411 in the 843, a marketing and events platform designed to better connect local businesses with the community through strategic promotion, relationship building, and large-scale events. Her work has consistently focused on amplifying local voices and supporting homegrown businesses.
As a member of the SCNeedsHelp board, Sherry is passionate about grassroots impact and believes in the power of locals helping locals. She is committed to using her marketing expertise, event experience, and community relationships to expand the organization’s reach and support families in need across the Grand Strand.
Sherry married Myrtle Beach native Hank Bonnette in April 2019, and together they are raising two beautiful daughters — Paulina, who attends Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach, and Ailynn, who enjoys her days at Palmetto Preschool. In her downtime, you’ll find Sherry with friends and family, traveling, and, of course, supporting local businesses whenever she can.
